Ovako Group R&D works is a corporate function supporting the Ovako Group in R&D. In order to plan for a good succession within the department and to strengthen strategic areas we are searching for two engineers, Senior R&D Engineer with focus on quantification and fatigue and R&D Engineer with focus on mechanical properties and wear.
Both positions will be part of the Corporate R&D team and located in Hofors.

Ovako is represented in more than 30 countries and is a leading European manufacturer of engineering steel for customers e.g. in the bearing, transportation and manufacturing industries.
We manufacture clean, strong and sustainable steel. Our steel is sustainable because the production process is based on steel scrap and a Nordic low-carbon electricity mix. It is also clean and strong because Ovako minimizes impurities in the steel during the production process. This gives the steel high-quality properties that enable customers to create lighter, stronger and more durable end products.

Senior R&D Engineer with focus on quantification and fatigue

This position involves developing the quantification techniques we have. This will enable us to connect this information both to the steel making practice and the final product properties. In addition, the role can involve coordination and responsibility of our analytical equipment and laboratory area.

The following skills are appreciated

  • Microscopy – both SEM (scanning electron microscope) and LOM (light optical microscopy)
  • High frequency ultrasonic testing
  • Microstructural analysis – Hardness, phase constituents, grain size etc.
  • Fatigue testing
  • Experience to work with international standards

Your background will be in material science holding a MSci or PhD. In addition, we appreciate some years of working experience in this field.

R&D Engineer with focus on mechanical properties and wear

In this position we are looking for a person that can work in our projects with material investigations and analysis. An important part will be tribology and supporting in the development of our wear resistant steels.
The following skills are appreciated

  • Microscopy – both SEM (scanning electron microscope) and LOM (light optical microscopy)
  • Tribology
  • Microstructural analysis – Hardness, phase constituents, grain size etc.

Your background will be in material science holding a MSci or PhD.
